简介：以色列新上任的國防部長，遷新居到邊境的一個小山丘上，為了安全的理由，派有軍隊保護，在住家附近蓋了瞭望塔，還設了重重的鐵絲網，把隔鄰的檸檬樹果園也包圍起來，不准果農進入，任其荒蕪果園的擁有者是一位寡居的婦女薩瑪，薩瑪繼承了這一片父親種植了60年的檸檬果園，丈夫幾年前去世，女兒出嫁，兒子到美國學電腦、打零工生活，龐大的果園只有她和一位未婚、跟著薩瑪的父親從小工作、視她如己出的長工。薩瑪雖然生活清苦，卻也很滿足地經營這片祖傳的家園。情報局擔心部長會受到恐怖份子的攻擊，決定砍掉果樹，補償一點費用給薩瑪。薩瑪護園心切，決定告上國防部，一位年輕的律師，明知官司難打，卻也義不容辭拔刀相助。雖然一路敗訴，最後打到最高法院，還成了國際新聞。「檸檬樹」是以色列影片，透過影片，我們看到了靠近邊境的地方，築起了又高又長的牆，就像萬里長城一樣，企圖阻止邊境敵對國的侵犯，就連影片最後，國防部長的家也築起一道高牆，看起來，比我們的總統官邸還要高上二倍。原本戶外就是一大片翠綠的檸檬樹園，不去享受，而把自己囚禁在水泥高牆內，真是諷刺。
